Asylum.

there’s the usual―
        fields of stone walls;
pastures of wired fences;
        green sunny skies,
blue fields of sand,
        leather straightjackets
bar-thick window screens

making room for the unusual―
        warm-bloodedness;
ordinariness;
        abundance of sunlight,
reciprocals of trust;
        consistency of joy
offerings of peace

but
greeted by the usual-
hesitant hands
